Key Insights from ATM 2026 Dubai: Market Resilience and Technology Adoption

Attending the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 in Dubai after several years provided valuable insights into the macroeconomic resilience of the Gulf region and the evolving state of technology adoption within the car rental and mobility sector.‍

1. Macroeconomic and Travel Sector Resilience in UAE

Travel into and within the UAE remains safe, efficient, and reliable. Although major international airlines have suspended operations—resulting in a 30% reduction in overall regional air traffic since late March—Emirates continues to demonstrate remarkable operational capacity.

The hospitality sector reflects similar stability: hotel occupancy experienced a modest 8% decline alongside a 10% decrease in Average Daily Rate (ADR), representing strong performance given regional tensions. Concurrently, the Dubai Financial District has restored 90% of its activity, and the UAE population expanded by 200,000 residents over the past year. Sustained real estate development highlights ongoing global investment confidence. As industry observer Moey Shawash summarized: "That is not an economy behaving as if nothing is happening; it is an economy learning how to function while something is happening."

2. Regional Tourism Dynamics

Saudi Arabia maintained a reduced footprint at ATM 2026, despite its aggressive Vision 2030 strategy to welcome 150 million annual visitors and scale tourism to 10% of national GDP. Nevertheless, engagement across the exhibition halls remained active throughout the event.

3. Technology Integration and Data Maturity in Car Rental

Observations across the car rental sector reveal still conservatism toward technology modernization. Existing management systems are primarily engineered for local regulatory compliance; however, many lack modern data architecture and robust API capabilities required to seamlessly connect with specialized revenue performance platforms like WeYield.

Discussions regarding Artificial Intelligence reinforced a crucial reality: AI cannot compensate for weak data infrastructure. As emphasized during an Alibaba keynote, establishing rigorous data management is a prerequisite for effective AI implementation. AI serves as an operational multiplier, but high-quality data is the fundamental asset.

4. WeYield's Approach to Revenue Performance

At WeYield, our focus on data integrity and intelligent automation is long-standing. We have integrated AI since 2018 to automate vehicle classification based on market rate data supplied by our partner DataSeeker. To ensure strategic insights translate into execution, we collaborate closely with Priority Consulting UAE, combining advanced revenue analytics with localized operational execution.

Building strong data foundations remains the mandatory first step toward long-term profitability in car rental revenue management.

Meet with us at the next Forum of WeYield, official partner of the CRTF-Car Rental Tech Forum show that will take place on Monday 2 November at the Crown Plaza Excel, the day before the WTM fair starts.
