Car Rental Market Trends under Coronavirus Covid19 – 7th edition, from 31st of May to 15th June 2020

In these difficult times for the tourism industry in general and for the car rental industry, WeYield has decided to aggregate anonymized data from the various clients we have per geographical zone.

The goal is to share some key performance indicators for the months of July and August 2020 from our WeYield Apps. In this seventh edition, we compared the indicators between two reference dates (31st May versus 15th June).

These data have no statistical mean due to limited set of companies but more to step back and enlarge the perspective to other areas on the planet. Hope this helps.

Let’s believe the pick-ups are back.

Number of days have improved dramatically in past two weeks, with Util improving by 5 pts in July and 2 pt in August, but still 26 pts and 17 pts respectively behind last year’s utilisation levels.

Days have improved in past two weeks for both July and August. However we note that RPD is down versus last year and has decreased slightly in past two weeks.

Europe shows very strong days growth as demand is returning and strong utilisation growth as a result of recent fleet cuts.

Mediterranean countries have good days growth with a slight increase in fleet versus two weeks ago, perhaps as a result of stronger than expected demand. RPD is however down significantly versus last year.

France shows very strong days growth as demand is returning and strong utilisation growth as a result of recent fleet cuts.

We are seeing continued strong growth in days, however we have a slight concern over the -12% and -11% drops in RPD seen in last two weeks.
